24th Annual Scientific Meeting

ASB 2000

The ASB annual conference will be held at the University of Melbourne on Friday 24th November 2000. The format of ASB 2000 will be that of a one day symposium followed by the AGM and dinner at a local restaurant.

Scientific Program

We have invited the following scientists to participate as guest speakers at our meeting:

Tony Watts (Oxford) Membrane proteins

Christa Critchley (Queensland) Photosynthesis

Cris dos Remedios (Sydney) Muscle proteins

Peter Gage (ANU) Ion channels

Bill Sawyer (Melbourne) Membrane peptides

Leann Tilley (LaTrobe) Malaria parasites

The symposium will consist of a plenary lecture by Professor Watts followed by the invited talks and a limited number of contributed talks from young biophysicists.

Abstracts

Abstracts for invited or contributed papers are due on October 1 2000.

Abstracts (original and 1 copy) should be printed on A4 paper in high quality 12 pt font.

Postgraduate Student Travel Grants

Postgraduate students (full time) who are members of the Society are invited to apply for a travel grant by contacting the ASB treasurer <pkp@mel.dbe.csiro.au>.

Young Biophysicist 2000 Award

From participants at ASB 2000 a postgraduate student or young postdoctoral researcher will be chosen for the Young Biophysicist 2000 Award. If you wish to be considered for this Award, an application should be sent to the ASB Secretary <Cyril.Curtain@sci.monash.edu.au>

The registration package includes morning and afternoon tea and a light lunch. The conference dinner will take place at a local restaurant. Non-member registrants may elect to use the extra registration charge towards payment of Society membership.
